When I was about ten years old, I asked the music teacher in my elementary school if he had any guitars he was selling. He pulled out his phone and showed me a couple pictures of his B.C. Rich Assassin that he was selling for around $425. He offered it to me for $250, since I was his student. That sounded like a wonderful deal to me, which it very much was, and I bought it just in time for my eleventh birthday.
After the recording of Main Event, the neck of the Assassin snapped after my cat knocked it over. It was leaning on my bed as I took a break from recording to get some water or something. For a few months, I just simply didn't bother fixing it, so it sat there with a snapped neck. About a month into the recording for Home Defense, I decided to go ahead and fix it with a clamp and CA glue. Since then, it's worked perfectly fine, and I've even set the Floyd Rose tremolo so I can use that. It's been my longest-lasting guitar and I absolutely love its bright tone, thanks to the humbuckers.
My father bought this guitar at a guitar store out of town, which, when we arrived back home, sat in his bedroom for years. After my Assassin broke, I asked my father if I could borrow it so I could have something to play in the meantime. I started recording with it promptly. It's a very small and awkward guitar, the body is light but the neck is heavy, causing the neck to droop when you use a strap, the frets are jagged, and you can't play it without standing up and using a strap. On top of that, it has a much mellower tone than my Assassin. I made do with it for nearly a year, before I fixed the Assassin.
This was my father's guitar, which he bought in the 1990s. It had been collecting dust in the garage for decades before I decided to fix it up and use it. Shortly before releasing Offscouring, I went and bought a blank nut, filed it, and set the guitar up. I've been using it ever since. Its first appearance was on Acute.
I bought this bass when I was thirteen years old. Ever since I bought this bass, I have been super interested in playing the bass and learning every song I can. After a couple years, I managed to tip the bass over enough to where one of the tuners broke off. I was already growing sick of the bass, so I ended up buying a Yamaha TRBX-304 shortly after, opting to give my old bass to my friend.
I bought this bass after breaking my Ibanez TMB-100 and subsequently giving it to my friend. This bass is much fancier than my previous. It's also a lot more comfortable and responsive. I've been exceedingly cautious with this bass, as I now am with my B.C. Rich Assassin. It's the only bass I have in my possession to this day.
I bought this guitar, which I believe is pre-assembled from a kit, in the middle of recording Home Defense. It has served me well since then, though it's a bit awkward to play, as expected.
